The Surya Samudra Beach Resort is located in Pulinkudi, Mullur P.O., Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Situated between tow lovely sandy beaches, the resort is a haven for peace and tranquility. The name Surya Samudra means the sun and the sea. An ideal resort for privacy and seclusion, the Surya Samudra Beach Resort of Thiruvananthapuram has exotic wooden cottages amidst beautiful coconut trees and fine beaches. It started with a single octagonal stone house near the historic Vizhinjam harbor and is just thirty miles off the tip of India. Today it has grown to an astounding 23 houses spread over 20 acres of private land. The eco-friendly beach resort has plenty of coconut, bamboo, banana, palm, wild shrubs and flowers as foliage around all its cottages.
The main reception area is lined up with 21 antique granite sculptures of lions set against a backdrop of an unpolished granite wall. The stone path leading to the cottage, pillars, the courtyard and the steps are all styled after the traditional Kerala temples. The wide verandas provide an excellent view of the sea and showers in the front gardens. The unique swimming pool is carved out of rock gives a sense of royalty and tradition. ‘The Octopus’ is the restaurant which serves seafood, home baked cakes, ice creams, fresh vegetables and authentic Kerala dishes.

The ancient art of Ayurveda, which focuses on the treatment of the body, mind and spirit as a whole is also practiced in the Surya Samudra Beach Resort. Its Ayurveda and Yoga center is refreshing and professional. For recreation, the guests can watch classical dances like the Bharata Natyam and Kathakali and the famous martial art of Kalaripayattu. Trips to the museum, the backwater lagoons, the wooden palace of Padmanabhapuram and the temple of Suchindrum are inspiring and refreshing. The tariff is very reasonable ranging from Rs. 100 for the small beach cottages to Rs. 240 for the sea front deluxe during the off peak seasons.
